Age?
Family?
Income?
Retired?

You can’t choose what life throws at you, but you can take steps to protect the things that matter to you the most. You can buy protection cover that will provide money to those you care about if you die.

Here are a few things to think about if you want your family to be OK if you die:

  1. What cover do I currently have?
The first thing you should do is find out what cover you already have, what cover you’ll receive from the state and any cover your employer may provide. You can find out more about this in ‘Protection information’ on the right.
  2. How much cover do I need and how much will it cost?
Our lifestyle calculator will help you work out how much your family spends which will give you a better idea of how much cover they’d need if you died. It will also give you an idea of how much protection cover could cost you each month.
  3. How much cover can I afford?
Our budget planner can help you work out how much cover you can afford. Even if you find that you can’t afford as much cover as you would ideally need, you should remember that some cover is always better than none at all. Additionally, depending on the product you choose, you may be able to take out joint cover, which could be more cost effective for you and your partner.
  4. What products are available?
If you decide that you do want life cover, then the product types available are shown in the ‘Your protection choices’ on the right.
  5. What if I already have cover?
As your life changes, so may the amount and type of protection that you need. To find out more about reviewing your policies read our ‘Protection information’.
