Saving for a car? Here are a few things to think about:

1. How much will I need?
Maybe you know exactly what kind of car you’d like and how much they cost. If not, do some research into it and find out how much the type of car you want could cost.  There is so much choice in the market, with advantages and disadvantages to buying new or second-hand.  Don’t forget to factor in any additional extras e.g. additional warranty if you are buying a second hand car, which you may want to take advantage of.

2. How much can I afford to save?
Try our budget planner to work out how much you can actually afford to start saving, and our monthly savings calculator to work out how long it might take.

3. How shall I save?
Places to put your money include savings accounts, cash ISAs and Premium bonds. Read more about the pros and cons of each to help you choose which one might be right for your savings.

3. How do I begin?   For savings you should consider your local bank and building societies, either on the High Street, by phone or internet. Have a look at the pros and cons of each and some top tips to help you decide the best way to set up your savings.
