Getting started

What is saving and investing

Most people know what saving is even if some admit that they aren’t very good at it.  A savings account that pays interest is an obvious way to keep unspent money safe no matter what it’s for.  The money grows slowly and it’s there when you want it.

Investment is for those who want their money to have the potential to grow faster than it would in a savings account.   There will be an element of risk in any investment but also the potential for greater reward.  There are many ways to invest including shares, property and bonds which are bought in the hope that they will increase in value and make money when they are sold.
