You have a number of choices for starting your pension:
- If you're employed, find out whether your company offers a pension scheme, whether you are eligible and the terms and conditions of joining. This can be done through your HR department or line manager. If there is a company scheme, they will have all the forms you need to start your pension, and will probably have a dedicated pension representative you can talk to.
- If there's no company scheme or you want to set up your own pension plan, you should speak to a financial adviser who will be able to advise you on your options as well as help you join your chosen scheme. There is normally a charge for this service, which may be a separate fee or paid out of your plan.
- If you've done the research and you know the product and the provider you want to choose, then you may be able to apply direct to the pension provider - in most cases this can be done online.
