That is a tricky area. Just because a company has done well in the past, does not mean it will be a star performer in the future. Even the rules tell you that… ‘Past performance is not a guide to future returns’.
But, companies that are consistently near the top of the performance tables regularly, year in, year out can be a good starting point. Past performance is usually shown on a one, three, five and ten year basis depending on the fund and when it started.
