Salary-related schemes are often called ‘final salary’ or ‘defined benefit’ schemes, because the pension you get is worked out according to how many years you have worked for the employer, and your salary.  You can only join these schemes if your employer provides one - you cannot pay into one privately. The scheme’s trustees and manager make all the investment decisions for you.
